Halfway through winter is the best time to plan for the year to come.

Typical jobs include:
  • Take your Christmas trees to the recycle centres or shred it for use as a mulch under your hedges and shrubs
  • Check your trees and shrub ties, changing any that need replaced
  • Look in on your begonia and dahlia tubers, making sure they are not dried out
  • Give the compost heaps a turnover to make sure they are well composted
  • Make sure you leave the bird feeders full for our feathered friends
  • Get the greenhouses clean and tidy - Wash down with Jeyes fluid and use a Vitax smoke bomb for all those nasty pests that might be lurking in the nooks and crannies. If your greenhouse or polytunnel needs repairs then get replacement parts sooner rather than later
  • Make sure your heaters are working OK and the thermostats still work
  • Check your propagators and soil warming cables, make sure they are still working and ready to make a start
  • Check your seed packets for vermin damage and replace as necessary
