Description

Provides ericaceous (acid loving) plants with the ideal soil for healthy growth.

Simply scatter Chempak Sulphur Chips Fertiliser to reduce soil pH for ericaceous plants without the need for peat.

Add to soil or compost and thoroughly mix in. Top dress the surface area and work in by hand or fork. For new plants, dig the sulphur chips into the top 15-20cm (6-8inch) of soil. Also safe to use on established container plants.

Can be used at any time of the year, but will be most effective in warmer soils. It provides a long-term solution to poor soil conditions. For a faster acting, short-term solution, feed badly affected plants with Chempak Sequestered Iron Fertiliser, until the Chempak Sulphur has taken effect.

Use 135g per square m (4oz per square yd). This will reduce the pH of the soil (increase acidity) by approximately 0.5 to 1 unit on the pH scale. It is advisable to wait until the soil warms to see the effectiveness of the application. If the desired pH is not achieved, more sulphur will be needed.

Sulphur:

Many ericaceous plants will not grow, or will show signs of trace element deficiencies if the soil is not ideal for that plant, the foliage may become unnaturally yellow in colour. Most common ericaceous (lime-hating) plants will not grow in limey soils.
